Travel Vertical Searches Beats Google

If you have a blog or a website that depends on very specific information that gets updated most of the time, then it would be better if you depended more on vertical search over Google Adwords. One of the best examples are Hotel Booking sites. Instead of linking to hotel booking site’s RSS for new info, or worse eye balling it every day to check for any changes in the pricing or room availability would be an exercise of futility. A great way to update your site would be using vertical-websites.

This of course, poses something of a competition with Google AdWords. If you know Google, they’ll find a wa yo to emulate it or buy a big player in that particular niche:

“In the Google Q2 Earnings Call 2009 there was a question of what Google thinks about the concept of vertical search. Eric Schmidt (CEO at Google) answered that there is room for improvement for vertical search in Google, but they do not have anything ready to roll out just yet. Schmidt continued by stating that on some vertical searches (like travel) the Google Adwords advertisements are more valuable than the organic results, but they do not know yet what to do with that observation. J. Rosenberg (Senior Vice President of Product Management at Google) answered on this question that Google is likely to add more information to its advertisements based on the preferences of their visitors.”

If Google can pull this off, then they got a winner on their hands. Naturally bloggers like you will benefit as well.
