Contact Button Makes It Easy To Contact and Follow
Putting out your email address on your blog is tantamount to inviting spammers to email you like crazy. Being a problogger, you naturally want to have people email you in order to communicate with them or even possibly work for them in a project, but listing your email on your blog is a big risk as you might have you email spammed. Others resort to putting a contact form but if you want to make it look snazzier, then I would suggest you try out Wikiworkbook’s Contact Button.
People no longer have to write their email as “john (at) johnsmith.com” to stop the spammers from either automatically or manually harvesting it. On a blog, the Contact Button can fit neatly into either the Sidebar or be automatically inserted at the end of each post. Visitor’s messages go direct to the user’s regular email account.
The Contact Button has a graceful dropdown which opens on mouse rollover to reveal an email icon and their social profiles – should the user choose to provide any. If a visitor clicks the “Email Me” icon, the email form opens on the same webpage – so the visitor stays on the user’s site.
Here’s what it’ll look like:

I’ve tried it out and it also allows you to put in any social network service link you have along with your email address. It also saves a lot of space since it’s a drop down menu compared to adding all your SNS packed on top of the other. So try it out!
Protect Your Posts!

So you just spent a couple of hours hammering away at the keys to create a great post on your blog, you publish it on your blog and wait for commenters and visits to roll in. A couple of minutes later, you find out that your post has been copied on another blog and he was claiming ownership, not even providing a link to your site. You see a lot of commenters congratulating the copier from doing a great post and subscribing to his RSS feeds. Naturally you’d be feeling angry that this copier stole your post and is earning from it.
Not only are small time probloggers a victim of this shenanigans but those who are big time as well. For example, B2B CFO is a victim of plagarism a lot of times.
In June 2009, searches for key phrases unique to B2B CFO’s Web site content resulted in a stunning discovery of dozens of other businesses plagiarizing the company’s content word-for-word on their Web sites. The problem was so widespread that this year alone B2B CFO has encountered more than 40 separate cases of plagiarism, including several competitors using B2B CFO’s registered trademark.
So how did they deal with it? B2B CFO’s Founder and CEO, Jerry L. Mills and Rick Daigle, the company’s Website Plagiarism Specialist did the following:
According to Daigle, when an offender is first identified, all relative evidence of the infringement is collected and saved. Next, Mills and Daigle send a “cease and desist” letter notifying the offender of the laws against copyright infringement as a direct violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and International Law. They give the offender 72 hours to correct the issue before turning the violators over to the firm’s law firm.
Good tip. If you’re not sure on how to do it contact a lawyer that specializes in this one.

Digital Experiences Drive Customers

Businesses these days have more chances of getting exposure than ever before, and if you have one it’s better if you read this.
Having an online presence, even if your products and/or services aren’t internet related, is good for your business. Adding more social networking services tools such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. to your site will make it even easier for you and your customer to interact. To further prove this, a report from FEED: The Razorfish Digital Brand Experience Report says:
“The ‘connected consumer’ is hungry for engaging online brand experiences,” said Garrick Schmitt, Razorfish Group Vice President of Experience Planning and FEED editor. “Conventional wisdom says consumers don’t want brands encroaching on their social space, but according to our findings, this simply isn’t true. Consumers are actively engaging with brands online, whether that’s ‘friending’ them on Facebook or writing a review on Yelp, and these experiences are shaping their perceptions – and loyalty – to those brands.”
Although this may be a boon to most businesses, but you also need to consider that you’ll need someone to focus on this job as more and more customers interact with you through various social networking services. However, it’s a double edged sword: the more you have them, the more response you have to do. If you think you can do it alone, then it would be fine, but expect a lot of customer related problems as well such as trollers, and competition ganging up on you (just like in the real world).
Good luck!
